This was my final project for my introduction to photographic imaging class I took my freshman year. I sought to capture ordinary subjects in a way that people may have never seen them in before. My photographs were shot in a modernist style because I was inspired by other photographers who also shot in this style, particularly Edward Weston. I was motivated to pursue this idea while I was strolling along one of the beaches at Endicott College. I was fascinated by the peculiar patterns I came across in the sand and I wanted other people to see it in the same way I saw it. When exploring for other subjects that I could capture in a unique and compelling fashion, I was motivated by a quote from Edward Weston:
“I see no reason for recording the obvious.”
